Our Cut-To-Size Extra Wide White Oak Timber is one of the most practical and widely used hardwoods from America, observed in use daily in various public buildings. The wood is characterised by its pale yellowish-brown to mid-brown colour and commonly seen reddish tint. It also comes with a typically straight grain and a medium to coarse texture.
Similar to European Oak, the working properties of American Oak Timber can vary from fairly easy to moderately difficult depending on growth conditions. White Oak is also slightly stronger than European Oak due to its greater density.
Takes glue, nails and screws well, however pre-boring is recommended. Can be finished to a very high standard with the use of oils, polishes, stains and waxes. Due to its relatively low moisture content, the timber can be susceptible to movement in variable humidity environments, making it unsuitable for external use.
Perfect for dining room tables, kitchen worktops, desktops, retail counters in bars and cafés as well as many other interior uses.
